SNAP-8 is manufactured and supplied as a powder with 0.05% SNAP-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3) and is water soluble. It is also available in form of an aqueous solution that consists of 0.5 g/L of the powder version. SNAP-8 has been shown to lower the severity of wrinkles that are found in the region surrounding the eyes by about 63.13%. Its efficacy is about 30% higher than the efficacy of its parent peptide; as confirmed in vivo and in vitro tests. SNAP-8 is cheaper, milder, and safer substitute to Toxin; these two peptide target similar wrinkle formation mechanism but in a differing ways. As a result of its safety profile and high efficacy, SNAP-8 is incorporated in cosmetic formulations that seek to attenuate the deep lines or wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes such as in gels, emulsions, and serums.
